Frequently asked

Will FLAC make my AAC sound better? +

No. AAC is lossy, so whatever detail got thrown away in the original encode is gone for good. FLAC is lossless and keeps the decoded AAC audio exactly as it is, but it can't put back quality the source never had.

Why convert AAC to FLAC then? +

FLAC is the format you want for archiving and for libraries that expect lossless files. Once your audio is FLAC, it survives more copies and edits without losing anything along the way.

Why does it take a moment to start? +

Browsers have no built-in FLAC encoder, so one loads the first time you use the tool. That adds a short delay. Everything runs on your device, and your AAC file is never uploaded.
